Higher Reaches of Kashmir Remain Draped in White After Fresh Overnight Snowfall

The higher reaches of Kashmir remained covered in a fresh blanket of snow on Thursday after overnight snowfall in several mountainous areas, while widespread rainfall lashed most parts of the Valley, officials said.

The change in weather brought fresh snowfall to the upper reaches and rain to the plains, marking another spell of unsettled weather across the region.

Following the snowfall, authorities deployed men and machinery to clear accumulated snow from vital roadways and facilitate the movement of traffic. Road-clearing operations were initiated at affected stretches to restore connectivity and ensure safer travel for commuters.

The fresh snowfall has once again highlighted the challenges of maintaining road connectivity in Kashmir’s mountainous areas during changing weather conditions. Snow accumulation on important routes can disrupt transportation, making timely clearance operations essential.

Meanwhile, rainfall across most parts of the Valley brought a change in local weather conditions. Commuters and travellers, particularly those planning to travel through higher-altitude areas, have been advised to remain cautious and follow official traffic advisories.

Authorities continue to monitor road conditions and undertake necessary measures to ensure that essential routes remain accessible.
