President Droupadi Murmu visited the Atal Tunnel in Rohtang, Himachal Pradesh, and praised the engineering excellence behind the iconic infrastructure.
During her visit, the President described the Atal Tunnel as an engineering marvel of global standards, highlighting the exemplary dedication of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) in constructing the tunnel in one of the country’s most challenging terrains.
President Murmu said the tunnel stands as a testament to India’s technological prowess, determination and commitment to ensuring seamless connectivity in difficult and strategically important areas.
The Atal Tunnel, built beneath the Rohtang Pass, has significantly improved all-weather connectivity between Manali and the Lahaul-Spiti region, while also facilitating travel and movement in the high-altitude area.
